The Palace is a classic 1930s movie palace cum rental house in the shadow of a better established venue of similar size and aspirations. Albany is a city with both great draw (government hub) and real impediments (inner city poverty and flight). Despite that, the theatre's leadership is ambitious and sees opportunity for the Palace as a cultural district hub, as well as a growing performing arts venue.

MVPA was hired to evaluate the feasibility of these ambitions, including an economic impact analysis of the Palace, a comparable analysis of its competitors, a review of similar venues, and an operating plan for both the theatre and district based on our findings, as well as to lead design concepts for the construction.

Now in design with DLR group as lead architects, MVPA is excited to provide the Palace and the city of Albany with the opportunity to a newbuild a cultural hub that can engage, educate, and connect an audience, young and old, across an entire region.
